Ark Construction Design recently completed a full renovation of a classic Victorian terrace in the heart of Islington, N1, blending timeless architecture with modern functionality across three floors of beautifully reimagined space.

We began by restoring the building’s striking façade, preserving period details such as sash windows, stucco mouldings, and decorative brickwork. The original checkerboard tiled pathway was retained and refreshed to create a bold and inviting entrance.

Inside, the kitchen extension was completely restructured to maximise natural light. We installed bespoke navy cabinetry, crisp white quartz worktops, and a central island under vaulted ceilings with skylights. Wide oak flooring runs throughout the ground floor, connecting the open-plan living area to the landscaped rear garden.

Bathrooms were thoughtfully reconfigured with elegant touches—one featuring patterned encaustic tiles, black steel-framed shower enclosures, and minimalist fittings; the other with a clawfoot roll-top bathtub and marble-style porcelain tiles for a refined finish.

Upstairs, new double-glazed sash windows and tailored joinery—including built-in wardrobes and a walk-through dressing room—enhance both comfort and functionality. A neutral colour palette and soft lighting accentuate the home’s calm, contemporary atmosphere while respecting its Victorian heritage.
